History of the company
| 01.11.1960 |
Klaus Kuhn founds the metal-turning workshop of the same name, on premises provided by Koenen & Regel, a supplier of centrifugal castings based in Monheim, in northern Germany.

| 1964/65 |
Construction of the company’s first own centrifugal casting machine, and relocation to premises in Radevormwald. Entry of Hans Kuhn into the company as partner and commercial manager.

| 1968 |
Acquisition of the first medium-frequency smelting furnace, and a doubling of previous casting-capacity.

| 1970 |
The company invests in a computer for the first time, in the shape of an IBM/32 used to calculate costs, leased for DM 10,000 per month.

| 1973 |
Investment in the first deep-hole drilling machine, for the purposes of efficient internal machining.
|
| 1977 |
Extension of the foundry, reconstruction of the metal-turning workshop in Otto-Hahn-Strasse and acquisition of a second medium-frequency smelting furnace.

| 1981-1985 |
Initial investment in the very latest computer-controlled CNC lathes and a CNC machining centre for final-finishing purposes.

| 1986 | Reconstruction of the foundry in Otto-Hahn-Strasse |
| 1988/89 |
Purchase of a neighbouring factory in the Otto-Hahn-Strasse, extension of the CNC turning shop onto these premises, and relocation to the industrial estate of the rest of the company’s activities

| 1995-1999 |
Andre Kuhn, the company founder’s son, joins the company; he is named main partner and CEO in 1997, and takes over management of the company.

| 2000 |
Founding of the centrifugal casting house Rova & Kuhn Technology Inc. in Taiwan, specialised in the production of shifting balls for use in valve construction.

| 2003 |
Death of company founder Klaus Kuhn.
Appointment of Frank Lessing and Heinz Homburg to the management board, marking the first involvement in company management of persons from outside the family

| 2007 | Investment of more than €8 million in new production facilities at the Radevormwald plant, and in equipment designed for the high-precision machining of large components; with 50 new employees taken on in just one year. |
| 2008/09 |
Increase of the company’s holding in Rova & Kuhn Technology Inc., from 25% to 60%. Relocation, extension and renaming of Rova & Kuhn Technology Inc. as Kuhn Special Steel Taiwan.

| 2010 |
Cooperation agreement with Schmolz + Bickenbach Castings.
On 5th November 2011, Kuhn Special Steel, its customers, commercial partners and employees came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company’s founding.
