Cooperation with schools
Special Steel has many years’ experience of helping with the training of young people at the region’s schools. There are good reasons for this: One of these is the simple, heartfelt desire to offer young people a good start in their chosen career. The other is our interest in providing new blood for the future of our company.
Our programme of cooperation with the comprehensive school in Radevormwald helps achieve both goals: School students get to know our company by visiting the firm’s various departments and becoming involved in project work in our training workshop, or even by completing internships with us. We also send employees out into schools to help with the teaching of technical subjects, while providing details of the specialist areas for which we offer training places.
This allows school students, teachers and parents alike to gain an accurate impression of the apprenticeships on offer, while stressing our role as a major regional employer.
A learning partnership is also in place between Kuhn Special Steel and the Theodor-Heuss High School in Radevormwald. Under this partnership arrangement, year-nine school students visit facilities such as our testing department, where they learn – as an adjunct to their normal physics classes – interesting facts concerning, for example, the properties of materials.
The programme of cooperation with the secondary school in Radevormwald is designed, among other things, to ease the transition from school to work. This involves us providing assistance in such areas as the preparation of students for apprenticeship-entry tests. We also provide proactive support for the teaching of subject-options of a technical and commercial nature.
